Dr Vincent Agyapong,听Professor of Psychiatry and Global Mental Health, and Head, Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia

Dr Vincent Agyapong Dr Agyapong is a Professor of Psychiatry and Global Mental Health, and the Head, Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University. He also serves as the Clinical Chief of Psychiatry for Nova Scotia Health Authority鈥檚 Central Zone. Dr Agyapong holds two Doctorate degrees: a Research MD in Psychiatry and a PhD in Global Mental Health, both awarded by the University of Dublin Trinity College in Ireland. He was also awarded a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training by the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland, and he has earned multiple Fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, Royal Society of Medicine in the UK, the Royal Academy for Medicine in Ireland, the American Psychiatric Association, and the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK. Dr Agyapong has over 200 publications in international peer review journals and have made over 70 presentations at national and international conferences in 20 countries across 5 continents. His research focuses primarily on the mental health impacts of natural disasters including wildfires and on health innovations that expand access to quality mental health care. His e-mental health supportive text message interventions have had over 100,000 subscribers, and he has received over $8 Million in research grants from national and international funding agencies. He has won numerous awards related to his research and community service, and in February 2019, he was honoured by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada by being selected as one of six Extraordinary Fellows of the College. In addition, he has had the Text4Mood program, his brainchild recognized by the Mental Health Innovations Network which is headquartered at the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse of the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.

Jura AugustinaviciusJura Augustinavicius is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Equity, Ethics, and Policy at the School of Population and Global Health at 91导航视频. She is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mental Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. At 91导航视频 she is a member of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Mental Health and an Associate Director of the Centre on Climate Change and Health. She regularly provides technical support to governments, NGOs, and UN agencies on mental health and psychosocial support in humanitarian crises and in the context of climate change. Prof. Augustinavicius鈥 research has a strong program implementation and evaluation focus. She currently leads several research projects that bring together teams with interdisciplinary and intersectoral expertise to co-design interventions with communities most heavily impacted by climate change and other crises.

Jill BaumgartnerProf Baumgartner is a Professor and William Dawson Scholar in the Departments of Epidemiology, Biostatistics & Occupational Health and Equity, Ethics and Policy at 91导航视频. Her research investigates the links between the climate change, environment, and health, with specific interest in solid fuel air pollution and environmental policy evaluation. Through interdisciplinary and global collaborations, her group has conducted environmental monitoring and epidemiological studies throughout the world. Her research has been covered by major media outlets including the New York Times, NPR, CBC, and The Guardian, and has served on multiple advisory committees for the World Health Organization, Health Effects Institute, and Project Drawdown.


Hannah Brais, Head of Research at the Old Brewery Mission

Hannah BraisHannah Brais (she/her) is the head of research at the Old Brewery Mission, Quebec's largest homeless service provider, where she oversees research to inform and evaluate frontline practices. More broadly, her research is concerned with programming and policy solutions for people across the housing continuum. She is concurrently a doctoral candidate at 91导航视频 in the geography department and a member of the National Advisory Council on Poverty. Canada Research Chair in Global Environmental Health and Epidemiology

Jonathan ChevrierDr. Chevrier uses traditional and causal inference methods to investigate the human health effects of exposure to common environmental contaminants such as pesticides, flame retardants, plastic components and industrial by-products in Canada and around the world. He is the Principal Investigator of the , which investigates the environmental determinants of health and disease in rural South African mothers and children. He also applies and adapts causal methods to address methodological issues such as the healthy worker survivor effect (HWSE). His most recent research on this topic has involved the use and modification of g-estimation of accelerated failure-time models.


Marianne Hatzopoulou,听Professor of Civil and Mineral Engineering
Canada Research Chair in Transport Decarbonization and Air Quality

Marianne Hatzopoulou Marianne Hatzopoulou is Professor in the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Transport Decarbonization and Air Quality. She leads the Transportation and Air Quality (TRAQ) research group studying the interactions between transportation, air quality, climate change, and public health; she published 150 publications on these topics. Prof. Hatzopoulou is also the Director of Positive Zero Transport Futures, a living lab ecosystem for testing transport decarbonization innovations with positive societal outcomes. Prof. Hatzopoulou is on the Canadian team of researchers who were the 2021 recipients of the NSERC Brockhouse Canada Prize for Interdisciplinary Research in Science and Engineering. In 2022, she received the University of Toronto Engineering Alumni Network 2T5 Mid-Career Achievement Award. She is an associate editor of the journal Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment and the current chair of the Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on 鈥淎ir Quality and Greenhouse Gas Mitigation鈥 (2023-2026).


Katie Hayes, Climate Change and Mental Health Researcher

Katie HayesDr. Katie Hayes is a climate change and mental health researcher. Her research explores the mental health consequences of climate change with a specific focus on addressing the inequitable risks and impacts on marginalized groups. Katie has published several articles exploring the topic area and she was the lead author of the mental health and climate change chapter for the 2022 National Climate Change and Health Assessment Report led by Health Canada.

Sarah HendersonSarah Henderson is the scientific director of Environmental Health Services at BCCDC and the National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health (NCCEH). She is also a professor (partner) in the UBC School of Population & Public Health. Sarah oversees a broad program of applied research, surveillance, knowledge translation, and training to support evidence-based public health policy and practice in BC and across Canada. She has been studying the health effects of climate change for more than 20 years.

Erin HetheringtonErin Hetherington is the director of health programs at the Trottier Family Foundation. In her role, she works in partnership with community-based organizations providing funding to improve access to healthcare for marginalized communities in the greater Montreal area. Combining her passion for research with a social justice commitment to improving health, Erin鈥檚 career has focused on understanding the social causes of maternal and child health inequalities in the global south, and among immigrant and refugee populations in Canada. Prior to joining the Trottier Foundation, Erin worked as an epidemiologist for the Public Health Agency of Canada, as a research fellow at 91导航视频 and the University of Calgary, and in international development at Oxfam America. She holds a PhD in Community Health Sciences from the University of Calgary, a Masters in Population and Public Health from Harvard, and a Bachelor's in Political Science from 91导航视频.


Eric Kennedy, Associate Professor, Disaster & Emergency Management

Eric KennedyDr. Eric Kennedy is an Associate Professor of Disaster and Emergency Management at York University. Kennedy serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal of Emergency Management, as well as Interim Director of York University鈥檚 Emergency Mitigation, Engagement, Governance, Response Institute (Y-EMERGE). Kennedy鈥檚 work focuses on wildfire management and the human and social dimensions of fire. In particular, his lab works on decision-making and use-of-evidence for wildfire preparedness, response, and recovery. Current projects include supporting international research needs identification in wildfire science; supporting the enhancement of predictive services in wildfire management; and increasing uptake of wildfire mitigation by local governments. He has also led a national COVID-19 monitoring project, tracking the public attitudes, risk perceptions, and knowledge related to the pandemic. In all his work, he focuses on producing research that addresses real-world needs, supports government decision-making, and helps create a safer and more equitable world.

脡ric LavigneEric Lavigne is a Research Scientist with Health Canada and an Adjunct Professor in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa. His research interests include the interconnections between air pollution and climate change, particularly in the context of early life exposure and children's health. The research is aimed at being policy-relevant and contributing to well-informed decision-making to improve the protection of human health.

I鈥檓 an educator, program designer, and researcher committed to addressing systemic challenges through creative and collaborative, community-led led real-world solutions. My work spans education, learning design, program development, impact evaluation, media production, and community engagement, taking me from Sudan to Qatar, Tanzania, and now Montreal.
I collaborate with organizations and individuals to co-create practical, inclusive solutions that honour diverse perspectives and bridge research with lived experience. Grounded in anti-colonial, Indigenous, and feminist values, my approach aims to challenge and transform exploitative, racist, and exclusionary structures, while fostering meaningful and sustainable change.

Sarah Munoz est docteure en science politique (Universit茅 de Montr茅al) et sp茅cialiste des questions d鈥檃daptation climatique. Elle coordonne actuellement un projet de pr茅paration locale aux urgences climatiques 脿 la Coalition montr茅alaise des tables de quartier (CMTQ), en partenariat avec la Direction r茅gionale de sant茅 publique, le Centre de s茅curit茅 civile et la Fondation Trottier. Sarah Munoz holds a PhD in political science (Universit茅 de Montr茅al) and specializes in climate adaptation. She currently coordinates a local climate emergency preparedness project at the Coalition montr茅alaise des tables de quartier (CMTQ), in partnership with the Regional Public Health Agency, the Montr茅al Civil protection centre, and the Trottier Foundation. In parallel, her research explores the sociopolitical and ideological dimensions of climate-related mobilities and adaptation.


Dr Nick Ogden, Director of the Public Health Agency of Canada鈥檚 Modelling Hub

Nick OgdenDr. Ogden鈥檚 research focuses on assessing risk by study of the ecology, epidemiology and genetic diversity of vectors and zoonotic and vector-borne micro-organisms, assessing impacts of climate change on zoonoses and vector-borne diseases, and developing tools for public health adaptation.

As Director of the Public Health Risk Sciences Division, he directs programs on model-based assessment of risk from infectious diseases, advanced epidemiological analysis, public health geomatics, molecular epidemiology and knowledge synthesis. Focus areas include zoonoses, vector-borne diseases, food-borne diseases, and the effects of climate change.

Parlee is a 'settler' scholar from north-eastern Ontario, Canada. 听听She has a B.A. 听from the University of Guelph (1995), and an M.E.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo (1998). 听She went on to receive her PhD from the University of Manitoba in Natural Resources and Environmental Management (NREM) in 2005. 听 During 2004-2024, Brenda was a Canada Research Chair (Tier II) at the University of Alberta. She is currently Professor in the Department of Natural Resource听Sciences and Bieler Chair in Northern Climate Change and Sustainability at 91导航视频. 听听听Brenda has worked in northern Canada and globally for over 27 years on a range of collaborative and community-based听research projects related to community-based monitoring, social-ecological change in the Mackenzie River Basin, wildlife health, Indigenous knowledge of caribou populations, 听sustainable resource development, the impacts of mining on community well being, biodiversity conservation and cooperative (co-management) of lands and resources in Alberta.

Am茅lie Quesnel-Vall茅e holds the Canada Research Chair in Policies and Health Inequalities at 91导航视频, where she is Inaugural Chair and Professor in the Department of Equity, Ethics and Policy (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) and a Professor in the Department of Sociology (Faculty of Arts). She is the founding Director of the 91导航视频 Observatory on Health and Social Services Reforms and a founding member of the 91导航视频 Center on Population Dynamics. Finally, she also founded and is Executive Director of听, an international consortium of 38 academic, government, private and non-profit organizations delivering training in support of evidence-based decision making.

Quesnel-Vall茅e鈥檚 research examines the contribution of policies to social inequalities in health over the life course and has been recognized through awards from professional associations including the American Sociological Association, the Population Association of America, and the American Public Health Association. She is a two-time Fulbright Foundation awardee, most recently of a Distinguished Chair (2020). She is a Past-President of the Canadian Population Society and of the International Sociological Association鈥檚 Research Committee on the Sociology of Health. She has demonstrated experience in providing strategic advice to several complex organizations, notably the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, where she served as a board member for six years, and held leadership roles such as the inaugural Chair of the Standing Committee on Science (2022-2024) and as a Member of the Executive Committee (2021-2024). Committed to furthering public understanding of science, Quesnel-Vall茅e is frequently sought by media outlets such as National Public Radio, the New York Times and Business Week.

Brian E. Robinson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at 91导航视频 Univeristy. His research looks at how people meet their needs through use of ecosystems and natural resources, and the role this plays in development in poorer regions of the world. His methods draw from environmental and development economics, development geography, ecology, and land systems science. He tries听to measure and demonstrate the interactions between livelihoods, the natural environment and the institutions that govern them.

Scott WeichenthalProf Weichenthal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational Health at 91导航视频 in Montreal, Canada. His research program is dedicated to identifying and evaluating how environmental pollutants contribute to adverse health outcomes on a population level. To support this objective, Dr. Weichenthal develops new approaches to population-based exposure assessment and examines how spatial/temporal variations in environmental pollutants influence the development of acute and chronic diseases including various outcomes such as cardiovascular morbidity/mortality and cancer. His past studies have examined the health effects of air pollution from biomass burning, traffic (e.g. ultrafine particles), as well as the oxidative potential of fine particulate air pollution (PM2.5). His current research is focussed primarily on climate change-related exposures (e.g., heat, wildfires, aeroallergens) and incorporates various machine learning methods into the exposure modelling process.
