Critical questions that have long been overlooked are finally being addressed. However\, prevailing research paradigms often fai l to reflect the realities of Black scholars and their communities. Tradit ional research has frequently been framed through a deficit lens\, positio ning universities as external entities rather than recognizing their embed dedness within the communities they serve. With the growing presence of Bl ack scholars in higher education\, there is a concerted effort to transfor m universities into sites of resistance and vehicles for meaningful change .\n\nThe overall goal of the symposium is to consolidate and expand the st ate of knowledge regarding how to conduct research that empowers and uplif ts Black communities in Canada\, using approaches that center Black experi ences and perspectives. It will\, therefore\, specifically highlight appro aches and practices to research that prioritize the voices and experiences of Black communities\, fostering empowerment and creating meaningful chan ge via the following objectives:\n\n1. Promote the use of Afrocentric and Black-centered research paradigms.\n\n2. Encourage participatory and colla borative research methods that actively involve community members.\n\n3. E xplore strategies for addressing systemic inequities and racism in researc h.\n\n4. Share best practices for knowledge mobilization that benefit Blac k communities.\n\n5.
