Her research uses fMRI to study the developm ent of memory in autism spectrum disorder as it relates to social communic ation. Hilary has been actively involved in SciComm in the Integrated Prog ram in Neuroscience since joining 91µ¼º½ÊÓƵ in 2019. She first volunteered fo r BrainReach and later cofounded and now leads two initiatives\, Brain Inf o Cerveau and NeuroLingo\, aimed at providing trainees with practical SciC omm training and experience. Additionally\, Hilary works at the Office of Science Education teaching undergraduate students about the neuroscience o f learning to empower them with science-backed study strategies.\n\nAbstra ct\n\nScience has historically been regarded as a field for experts\, offe ring limited opportunities for non-scientists to engage or participate. In an age of rampant misinformation\, building trust and providing access to reliable information is more critical than ever. In the spirit of open sc ience\, scientists have a responsibility to break down barriers to accessi ng scientific findings\, products\, and the research process itself. This workshop will explore the ethics of science communication and its role in the open science movement. Together\, we will also discuss practical metho ds for communicating science effectively\, and participants will begin dev eloping engaging\, accessible pieces based on their own research.\n\n \n\n Contact:\n osoh.neuro [at] mcgill.ca\n  \n\nOpen Science Office Hours (OSOH) is an initiative of the Tanenbaum Open Science Institute (TOSI)\, led by Neuro trainees\, and supported by the McConnell Foundation and the TOSI Tr ainee Council. We organize events\, provide one-on-one support\, and curat e resources to make it easy for neuroscience researchers at all levels to integrate Open Science practices in their work.\n DTSTART:20241007T174500Z DTEND:20241007T174500Z LOCATION:Jeanne Timmins Amphitheatre \, Montreal Neurological Institute\, C A\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2B4\, 3801 rue University SUMMARY:Open Science Office Hours - – Science Communication URL:/neuro/channels/event/open-science-office-hours-sc ience-communication-360229 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
