Yet growing research suggests that e motions emerge from more basic networks that comprise the brain’s basic fu nctional architecture. In this talk\, I’ll discuss evidence that human emo tional experiences are associated with the co-activation of broad scale ne tworks subserving psychological functions that are not specific to emotion .\n\nBio: Kristen Lindquist\, Ph.D.\, is an Associate Professor in the Dep artment of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina \, Chapel Hill where she is a faculty member in the Social Psychology grad uate program\, the Developmental Psychology graduate program\, and a membe r of the Human Neuroimaging Group. She is also faculty at the Biomedical R esearch Imaging Center and the Neurobiology Curriculum in the School of Me dicine. She directs the Carolina Affective Science Lab\, a group of interd isciplinary scientists who use the tools of social cognition\, physiology\ , and neuroscience to understand how people experience emotions in their o wn bodies\, see them in others\, and how these processes contribute to soc ial behaviour\, well-being\, and health across the lifespan.\n\nKristen re ceived her B.A. in Psychology and English from Boston College in 2004\, he r Ph.D. in Psychology from Boston College in 2010\, and she was a Harvard University Mind/Brain/Behaviour Initiative postdoctoral fellow from 2010-2 012\, during which she was affiliated with the Department of Psychology at Harvard University\, the Department of Neurology at Harvard Medical Schoo l\, and the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at the Massachusetts Ge neral Hospital.\n\n\nThe Feindel Virtual Brain and Mind (VBM) Seminar Seri es will advance the vision of Dr. William Feindel (1918–2014)\, Former Dir ector of the Neuro (1972–1984)\, to constantly bridge the clinical and res earch realms. The talks will highlight the latest advances and discoveries in neuropsychology\, cognitive neuroscience\, and neuroimaging.\n\nSpeake rs will include scientists from across The Neuro\, as well as colleagues a nd collaborators locally and from around the world. The series is intended to provide a virtual forum for scientists and trainees to continue to fos ter interdisciplinary exchanges on the mechanisms\, diagnosis and treatmen t of brain and cognitive disorders.\n DTSTART:20220427T200000Z DTEND:20220427T210000Z SUMMARY:Feindel Virtual Brain and Mind Lecture Series: Emotions are Constru cted of More Basic Networks URL:/neuro/channels/event/feindel-virtual-brain-and-mi nd-lecture-series-emotions-are-constructed-more-basic-networks-338999 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
