T he ongoing multi-site BrainGate2 clinical trial has demonstrated that peop le with paralysis -- from degenerative neurological diseases\, spinal cord injuries\, and strokes -- can reliably control computer cursors\, robotic arms\, and even their own paralyzed limbs. In this presentation I will di scuss the principles of BCI design\, modern approaches to BCI decoding alg orithms\, and growth opportunities for this technology.\n\nThe objectives of the talk are:\n\n1. Describe the components of a brain computer interfa ce (BCI)\n\n2. Describe how an intracranial BCI can be used for communicat ion\n\n3. Describe some limitations in modern intracranial BCI technology \n DTSTART:20210218T203000Z DTEND:20210218T213000Z SUMMARY:Special Seminar: Intracortical brain computer interfaces URL:/neuro/channels/event/special-seminar-intracortica l-brain-computer-interfaces-328684 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
