Facilities Management and Ancillary Services will be performing a major electrical shutdown at Macdonald Campus Library on Wednesday, July 9, from 6 h to 12 h. The Macdonald Campus Library in the Barton Building will be inaccessible at this time. This shutdown is necessary for maintenance on the Hydro-Québec substation and four transformers servicing the south side of campus.

Ventilation System Work at Macdonald Campus Library Begins May 12

Beginning May 12, construction will take place at the Macdonald Campus Library to address persistent condensation and leaking caused by inadequate insulation in parts of the building’s ventilation system. To carry out this work safely, special precautions are necessary due to the presence of asbestos in the Barton Building. A Sealed Access System (SAS), which allows construction work to be enclosed and contained, will be positioned throughout various library spaces over the course of the project.

Exploring the power of research at the 2025 Lister Science Chats

On May 2, 2025, over 60 people gathered in the John Abbott College Library for the Lister Science Chats, where four Macdonald Campus graduate students presented their research and shared how past events as well as the discoveries, sometimes unintentional, and techniques of previous scientists made their work possible.

Climate science, community wellness, and career inspiration at the 2025 John Abbott Sustainability Through Science Symposium

On April 11, 2025, over 60 people gathered at the annual John Abbott Sustainability Through Science Symposium to hear how the research of three Macdonald Campus graduate students contributes to a more sustainable future. Honours and science students from John Abbott College, as well as members of 91��Ƶ's Macdonald Campus community, were inspired by short talks followed by a panel discussion on the students' university experience and their chosen career paths.

Please note that all 91��Ƶ Libraries locations and service points, including online reference service will be closed on Tuesday, June 24 and Tuesday, July 1 (statutory holidays).

On Monday, June 23 and Monday, June 30, ONLY the Humanities & Social Sciences Library, Schulich Library and Marvin Duchow Music Library services and spaces will be available.

April 15 - 17 | Ventilation Shutdown at McLennan-Redpath Library Complex

Please be advised there will be a ventilation shutdown at the McLennan Library Building and at the Redpath Library Building on Tuesday April 15 until Thursday April 17 which will run each day from 7h00 until 15h00 and will affect both buildings. This shutdown is necessary to repair the ventilation pipes in the building. Fresh air will flow in both buildings. Please note that it may be a little cooler during day while work is being done. The heating will be back online in late afternoon.
