Daniel Fortin-Guichard, Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, was invited to the Temps d'Arr锚t podcast hosted by (Fran莽ois Rodrigue), an Assistant Professor at the Universit茅 du Qu茅bec en Outaouais, discussing cognitive biases that selectors may have when identifying and selecting athletes (e.g., at the NHL draft).听
Other aspects of talent development such as talent transfer (i.e., developing in one sport, but excelling in another sport) were also discussed.听
Dr Fortin-Guichard suggested ways to improve talent identification methods to ensure better equity and fairness in selection so that athletes that would have otherwise been missed by talent identification programs get a chance to be selected if they have potential that has yet to emerge.
