 ational Education Society (CIES) explores educational issues related to sc

 d primary school to secondary and higher education\, as well as non-formal
  education and lifelong learning. Some compare achievement inequalities ac
 ross socio-economic status\, gender\, ethnicity\, and language. Others exa
 mine the relationship between education and cultural processes\, democrati
 zation\, globalization\, economic development\, and political conflict. \n
 \nEstablished as an academic association in 1956\, CIES has attracted a di
 verse audience in working towards its mission to foster cross-cultural und
 erstanding and scholarship. Within the last decade alone\, CIES membership
  has doubled — reflecting the global expansion of academic and professiona
 l positions as well as a commitment to international education and coopera
 tion. \n\nIMPACTS research assistants and doctoral students Shannon Hutche
 son and Sarah Lewington are presenting at CIES 2019 in San Francisco. More
